Yilan is originally called as Kbala, followed by the name of native residents lived in this area 300~600 years ago. Located in the North-East part of Taiwan, Yilan has a very unique landscape; to the east is the Pacific Ocean, to the west stands the Hsuehshan Mountain Range. Yilan is well-known by its environment protection dedication, so in Taiwan, when speaking of Yilan, people always say it is the place with “nice mountain, pure water, and in-depth culture”.
