Things To Do

Yilan is itself a museum.

The name Yilan is derived from the word “Kavalan.” The Kavalan people are an aboriginal tribe that has lived in the plains for thousands of years.

The Kavalan people co-exist with many groups in this area. This cultural exchange has become the basis for our multicultural traditions.

Located in the North-East part of Taiwan, Yilan has a very unique landscape; to the east is the Pacific Ocean, to the west stands the Hsuehshan Mountain Range.

Yilan is well-known by its environment protection dedication, so in Taiwan, when speaking of Yilan, people always say it is the place with “nice mountain, pure water, and in-depth culture”.

NIU encourages International Students to explore Yilan at leisure time, which will definitely create wonderful memories in their life.

Yilan is itself a museum and the Lanyang Museum is a window into better understanding this area.

The history and culture museum was designed to accentuate its scenic surroundings, and you can learn about the area’s landscape inside the museum through hands-on exhibits and educational displays.

Besides Langyang museum, we have the Yilan Museum Family, with its dozens of members together, welcoming everyone to experience local culture.

If you are interested in Taiwanese Traditional Arts, you should probably visit Yilan Park of National Center for Traditional Arts.

There, it not only has many hands-on craft sessions, but also holds great shows to watch.
